Rwanda has yet again produced another year of stellar coffees and this particular lot comes from Cyarumbo washing station located in Huye district, the Southern Province of Rwanda.
It is always an enjoyable experience cupping and hand selecting our favourite origin but its extra special when its 100% produced by female farmers.
This cooperative is a part of the Abizerwa Women’s Group, one of 23 women’s groups supported by the Abahuzamugambi Ba Kawa Maraba Cooperative (or ‘Maraba’) and their coffees are processed and separated from other lots to ensure distinction and profits to be directed specificallly for the womens group . This gives women greater incentive to work as the collective to better their product and command higher prices in the market in return.
This coffee is special, and it is another great example of how and why specialty coffee embodies transparency.
We want our food and wine that are ethically sourced and sustainable.
Why should coffee be any different? Drink responsibly.
